Description
Kulhad Wali Sweet Lassi is a classic North Indian beverage, especially popular in Delhi and Punjab. It is made by blending fresh curd (dahi) with sugar until smooth and frothy, often enriched with malai (cream), saffron, or dry fruits.
What makes it unique is the kulhad (earthen clay cup) in which it is served. The porous clay subtly absorbs moisture and adds a natural earthy aroma, enhancing the overall taste of the lassi. This traditional serving style also keeps the drink cool and refreshing.
The lassi is usually thick enough to be enjoyed with a spoon and is often topped with a layer of cream, chopped nuts, or flavored syrups like rose or kewra. Some versions even include rabri for extra richness.
Kulhad wali sweet lassi is especially popular during hot weather, as it is both cooling and filling, and is commonly enjoyed as a refreshing drink, dessert, or even a light meal accompaniment.
